Our story · Since 2018

Crafted from southern living.

Cub&Co is a Cornwall-born independent brand built around a passion for good clothing, great coffee and coastal living.

The story began in 2018, when founder Matt was studying and regularly buying and selling clothing through eBay and Depop. He had always been drawn to well-made clothes and the culture around them, but felt there was space for a brand that properly represented Cornwall: its heritage, its landscape and its relaxed way of life.

What started with conversations between college friends and a small run of T-shirts soon became an online clothing brand. At the same time, Matt's interest in specialty coffee was growing. While studying Sports Science at university he trained as a barista and began imagining a space where both passions could come together.

The coffee journey started with a small van at events around Cornwall. A summer pop-up at Charlestown Harbour became the turning point, giving Matt the confidence to leave his job and commit to the business full-time. Soon afterwards an opportunity arose at Watergate Bay, where the converted van began serving coffee by the sea. What was intended to be seasonal quickly grew into a permanent part of the local community.

Since then Cub&Co has kept growing. Alongside Watergate Bay we now have our main home in Mevagissey, where customers can enjoy coffee and explore the full clothing collection, and The Hangar near Newquay, which brings together coffee, brunch and a selection of Cub&Co clothing.

Formerly known as No.1 Cubs, the name has changed but the heart of it remains the same: thoughtfully made clothing, properly made coffee and welcoming spaces inspired by Cornwall. We want to make clothing that is worn for years rather than seasons, serve coffee worth taking time over, and build a brand that feels proudly Cornish while belonging wherever life takes you.

Quality

Heavyweight organic cotton, 440gsm fleece, YKK zips, embroidery that outlasts the print. Clothing worn for years rather than seasons.

02

Community

Three spaces on the coast where locals and visitors sit at the same tables. The CubHouse is built for the people who keep coming back.

03

A slower way of living

Harbour mornings, cold-water surfs, the long way home. Everything we make is shaped by time spent outside and coffee worth sitting down for.

The mark

The geometric bear.

Our staple, from the start. A bear built from facets, the way a coastline is built from rock. It sits on the chest of our first tee and on the back of our heaviest hoodie, and it is registered, because it means something to us.
